Tsarino Foundation
The Tsarino foundation, established in 2009, is a small, artist and volunteer run organisation which organizes exhibitions, cultural events and an artist-in-residence program in the abandoned village of Tsarino, Bulgaria.
I visited the village for the first time in 2010 and joined the foundation as an active member in 2015, helping with organizing, building and generally supporting the project. Around 2019 I permanently moved to Tsarino, only to travel back to the Netherlands a few months per year for work.
My main contributions to the project are building and running the Razklon Galley, hosting artists, volunteers and other visitors, as well as carpentry and building jobs around the village, developing the facilities.
